Issue Position

Our National Guard and military reserve forces provide the state with vital resources in times of need such as natural disasters resulting floods, power outages and wind damage. The guard and reserve are also called upon to serve the nation as many of our soldiers, sailors and airmen have done over the years, most recently in Iraq, Afghanistan and around the world. Congress recently included reserves in assets that can be provided upon request of the Governor. We owe it to these guard and reserve members to maintain state programs and support when needed in return. They are our native sons and daughters.
